Hypnotherapy & the use of hypnosis

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS/ HYPNOTHERAPY?

Hypnotherapy is the use of a deep hypnosis state. It feels pleasant, relaxing and wonderful. Hypnosis derives from the Greek Hypnos, meaning ‘sleep’. Hypnotherapy is completely safe and a highly effective natural therapeutic technique. In fact, it’s my second favourite therapy after reflexology.

Very basically, hypnosis is a natural state of heightened suggestibility and a communication tool between our intellect and our subconscious mind.

Did you know the subconscious accounts for 88% of our mind’s activity which drives our behaviour? It is used as a treatment to break unwanted habits, reduce stress and anxiety, relieve pain, calm exam nerves and help stop smoking, to name but a few.

HOW HYPNOSIS/ HYPNOTHERAPY CAN HELP YOU

It is an extremely powerful tool in the fight against unwanted addictions, habits, fears or phobias you may have

Would you like to make a change in your life and say goodbye to your addictions and habits or eliminate your fears and phobias?  Are they holding you back from doing the things and activities you would love to do for yourself or from joining friends and family on holidays or outings?  Fear of flying is probably the most commonly treated phobia in the UK.  For some clients irrational fears or phobias are an inconvenience, but for many sufferers they significantly hinder their enjoyment of everyday life.

Whatever your personal experience or the cause, I can help you retrain your mind to provide a different response to previously fearful situations.  I have successfully helped many clients overcome fears such as spiders, needles, motorway driving and flying.

Hypnosis is a highly effective, fast tool for rapid change within individuals as we can access the subconscious directly, unlike any other therapy which can take a prolonged period of time, often with very slight results.  A course of Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy can be life changing.

HYPNOSIS/ HYPNOTHERAPY FOR GOAL SETTING

WHAT HAPPENS IN A HYPNOSIS/ HYPNOTHERAPY COMPLIMENTARY, CONFIDENTIAL, CONSULTATION SESSION?

So when you’re ready to make a change in your life, you can book in with me for an initial individual Complimentary Consultation Session.  These normally take around a minimum of 30 minutes and no Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy takes place during this session.  Some clients like to have their consultation in person, while others prefer to do it over the  phone.  The choice is yours.

The Consultation Session gives you the opportunity to ask any questions and share your thoughts and concern.  I will explain to you how Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy works and how it can personally help you.  I will ask you about your medical history and any conventional medical treatment that you are having, including prescription or over-the-counter medicines.  This will then give me the opportunity to find out a little bit more about you, so that I can ensure that I am the right person to help you.  There is no obligation on either side to continue if you feel that Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy is not right for you

Together we will have a detailed discussion outlining your difficulties fears or concerns and what areas you would like me to work on with you.  Then I will discuss and design an individual strategy that is your tailored programme to help you succeed.  We can even put your personal goal for the future into the Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy session.  The consultation will allow me to learn more about you and your specific goals, explain the process of hypnosis, and determine how many sessions it will take to help you realise your goals.

By the end of the consultation you should know how long the sessions will generally last, how frequent they will be and the approximate number of sessions that will be required for therapy to be successful and the cost of the therapy.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A HYPNOSIS/ HYPNOTHERAPY SESSION?

You are aware and alert to your surroundings, know what is going on at all times and are always in control.  In order to help you I will use a range of therapeutic techniques such as visualisation, suggestion techniques, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), coaching, Time Line Therapy and imagery.

WHAT DOES TRANCE HYPNOSIS/ HYPNOTHERAPY FEEL LIKE DURING THE SESSION?

We experience hypnosis several times every day.  It is a state that occurs naturally when your attention is fixed on something so much that it absorbs us to the exclusion of everything else.  Milton Erickson, the premier hypnotism expert of the 20th century, contended that people hypnotise themselves on a daily basis.  For example, when you are watching a film or reading a book, or for some it can feel very similar to daydreaming.  It is a pleasant and enjoyable state.  This is due to its connection to your subconscious.  Clients report that they feel relaxed, calm and awake/aware of everything that is happening around them.

WILL I BE ABLE TO BE HYPNOTISED?

Yes - anyone can be hypnotised as long as they want to be.  All hypnosis is self- hypnosis - without your co-operation you will not be hypnotised.

CAN I GET STUCK IN HYPNOTIC TRANCE?

No - any client is free to come out of the hypnotic consent state at any time.  Hypnosis is a 100% consent state and you're always in control.  In fact, you will be 100% in control.  You have the ability and control to either accept or reject a suggestion as to whether or not you are hypnotised.  You are in control all times, not the hypnotist.  You will feel the same way when you emerge from hypnosis as from a nap.  Some of my clients enjoy hypnosis so much that they don’t want to come out of the trance.  In fact, if at any time you are in trance you wish to be fully awake, you can just count to yourself "1,2, 3" and open your eyes.

HOW MANY HYPNOSIS/ HYPNOTHERAPY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

All clients’ needs are very different and so, therefore, there is unfortunately no standard answer to this question.  Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy is a dramatically rapid intervention system that strives to strengthen the client's feelings of competence and self-confidence.  Some client’s may require between one and five sessions.  It is always up to you how many sessions you would like.  I will be able to give you a much clearer idea about your specific program after your Complimentary Consultation session,

ARE MY SESSIONS CONFIDENTIAL?

All client sessions are 100% confidential.

WHAT DOES HYPNOSIS/ HYPNOTHERAPY FEEL LIKE AFTER A SESSION?

At the end of the session you will remember everything that has happened when you re-open your eyes.  The most common sensations after hypnosis are feelings of a calm, peaceful state, re-energised with a greater sense of wellbeing and readiness to move on.
